A benefit-risk plane

The scatter plot above was used in the Telithromycin Case Study to visualise the joint distribution of incremental benefit and incremental risk associated with telithromycin against comparator for Acute Bacterial Sinusitis (ABS).The ellipse 95% confidence interval can be used to assess the uncertainty around the risks and benefits. Most of the points fell in the northeast/southeast quadrant, indicating a greater chance that telithromycin is more effective and with lower risk than the comparator for ABS indication. The visual representation has also been called a benefit-risk plane in some publications.
