RV-MCE (Relative Value adjusted Minimum Clinical Efficacy)
1. Description
RV-MCE (Relative Value adjusted MCE) incorporates stakeholders' value preferences on the importance of AEs into MCE.
2. Evaluation
2.1 Principle
- The principle is based on MCE.
- Relative values (RV) are used to adjust MCE for utilities of benefits and risks.
- RV adjustment threatens the logical soundness of MCE.
- See also RV-NNH.
2.2 Features
- RV-MCE allows several benefits and risks to be included.
- MCE only gives one point estimate (a single value).
- It does not handle uncertainty.
2.3 Visualisation
- There is no specific visualisation for RV-MCE.
2.4 Assessability and accessibility
- MCE is not widely used in statistics or epidemiology, and very rarely used for benefit-risk assessment.
